January 2022 - DevOps Support Engineer

We are looking for an IT professional to help manage and automate the infrastructure around our flagship application, to ensure it is secure, stable and highly available.

Our strong security focus affords and requires in-depth exposure to concepts normally seen at larger organisations (like network segregation, encryption with internal certificates, multi-factor authentication, Single Sign On, secret management, vulnerability scanning, Web Application Firewalls, and a formal change management process); allowing applications access to a restricted set of ports and hostnames requires understanding all its components needs.

Being cloud-native we take advantage of AWS's transformation of operation to development roles that require automation and configuration of new technologies that abstract away traditional infrastructure (like Terraform and CloudFormation).

We're still a small company so our infrastructure support spans the full stack (from database to front end), full lifecycle (from development, to testing and production), and roles (from business analysts, developers to end users). Fluid responsibilities and roles allow team members to steer progression and learning is encouraged.

Our technologies include python for infrastructure, node.js for testing, Oracle for our database, Jenkins for our builds and Elastic Beanstalk for our deployment.

The ideal candidate would have the following:

  • Solid developer background in at least one major programming language (Python, Java, Node.js, Scala, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn
  • Openness to express views
  • Quality over quantity mentality
  • Certification in AWS or other appropriate technologies (and we will support ongoing training)
